Another way to search is from the genres page or the recommendations category.

Freebooksy is a free eBook blog that lists primarily free Kindle books but also has free Nook books as well, in addition to free eBooks from Kobo, Apple, and Google. There’s a new book listed at least once a day, but often times there are many listed in one day, and you can download one or all of them.

Something we like about this site is that the download links aren’t to the book files but instead to the store the book is being given away on, such as Amazon for Kindle books, or Google Play or Apple Books. This means you can download it to your device using those apps. Open Library is a free Kindle book downloading and lending service that has well over 1 million eBook titles available.

Library Explorer is a neat way to visualize these books in a virtual library. They seem to specialize in classic literature, but you can also browse recipe books and fantasies, among others genres. Searching by keyword is also allowed, as is browsing by subjects, authors, and genre. All the books are listed down a single page with thumbnails of the cover image and direct links to Amazon.

Now, I can read on the run or read much larger type on the PC, in the comfort of my home. I read a lot of books and I would like more features in this e-reader. I also use three Kindle fire tablets and a paper white for outdoor use. On Android tablets other than fire this is my go to app.

With such a huge selection of books on Amazon getting some in a digital format makes sense, especially if home storage is limited or it is a book that you’ll only be reading once. Also to consider why a Kindle is preferred would be that Amazon makes it challenging to read their books in any other e readers. I don’t much care for how they have the notes and highlights feature set up as each are put into a separate box.

The boxes can be color coded to keep continuity. Personally I would prefer a bullet point format for an entire book with a page number referenced. It would also be nice if you could add your own notes along with the text being copied.

The Kindle does not automatically save the highlights either and I have not found the feature to do so. It seems like there must be one, otherwise what’s the point in taking notes?

Bottom line though, is that if you want to read Kindle books a Kindle e reader is a must have. Well, I purchased and downloaded the app not knowing that I could do so for free as a Prime member. Oh, well. At least it’s there if I should drop my Prime membership. The discontinuation of the Kindle app is a huge disappointment for me.

It was not perfect, it could not access other eBook formats, but it was still handy. Please bring back the Kindle app for the PC. Thank you. I enjoy Kindle for PC , it is easy to use, good user interface even for beginners, and has a library to store books. It is a great start for Ebook readers. I’ve encountered quite a few issues while using this but it’s not like I wrote them down so I don’t have a list off the top of my head.

So if you’re looking for a more advanced review with a list of pros and cons this won’t be it. All I can really say is that the app itself can be pretty slow at times and that there’s a lot of things that just make it annoying to use. Sometimes it feels like you have to do clicks when it could of just been 1. However all of the issues are small, it’s still fairly easy to use. It could just be better. See all reviews. This software is terrible, it doesn’t have one of the most basic feature requirements which is to zoom in on the page like you can easily do with a PDF and then scroll up and down to read a page, books that have images or charts or symbols are unreadable, it locks the height of the page to the height of your screen which is not useful, although it has a option to increase the text size but this only works on literature books, not study text books.

Completely useless don’t bother buying any ebooks for studying if you hope to use this, math’s symbols don’t display properly, they either have alignment issues or display invalid characters. I can’t understand how amazon with all its resources hasn’t asked their development team to do something about this as a priority and make it work, Adobe managed to do it fine with PDFs so it can be done perfectly.

I won’t be buying anymore ebooks, very disappointing. One person found this helpful. If the book isn’t entirely text based this app is useless. This app would benefit from a zoom function, when viewing comic books on it or illustrations in general as the way they look on a PC monitor or laptop screen it is always too small to read the captions or properly pick out the detail of each image.

The app has very few features and is very basic, in how it can be used. Would work ok on a good sized tablet, and in general it’s fine for reading books with flowing text – but any books with pictures severely show up the limitations of this product. I know it is free to download, and Amazon as a company probably don’t want to give as many features as an actual physical Kindle, but I feel less inclined to purchase ebooks when I know that I will have a difficult experience reading some of them with this app.

Having been well used to dedicated Kindle readers, and Kindle reader apps on various Android machines for many years, I am able to give an accurate comparison of this “programme” for a Windows PC. It is not an “app”, because, for some reason Windows 10 does not allow the Kindle reader for an app, as does Android. Editors’ Review Download. Full Specifications. What’s new in version 1.
