For ten years, we have got used to FPS games where using cover is essential. Find cover, kill enemies, find next cover, shoot more enemies. Halo is credited with starting this trend, and today’s biggest shooters like Modern Warfare 3 still adhere to it.

There is lots of space for much of the game, and you will have to use to dodge attacks and enemies. Sam will often be overrun by huge waves of monsters; instead of hiding behind a rock to pick them off, you’ll have to strafe and backpedal while taking out the gruesome bad guys. It’s unsubtle, and can be very tough going. Serious Sam 3: BFE starts off a little slow in our opinion. Once you have progressed enough to have an impressive arsenal at your disposal, the over the top explosive fun really impresses.

However, starting out is challenging, you’ll find ammo lacking and health far to easy to lose! On PC, there are excellent multiplayer modes. Survival mode, which lets up to 16 players play cooperatively against ever increasing odds is especially fun. There is also up to four player split-screen mode.

Serious Sam 3: BFE manages to keep things interesting by ensuring that the locations you are blowing aliens away in change fairly regularly. The aliens are some really ugly looking dudes and I love it! There is a lot of imagination here and while you do see the same enemies a lot. Their designs are so gross, ugly, and weird that you do not mind too much.

The gameplay of this is very fast and frantic. Instead what we have going on here is a game that is all about keeping your finger on the trigger and having cat-like reflexes. It is a ton of fun and it is the kind of game that very rarely lets up. You will be mowing down hordes of aliens and having a great time doing it. Now, I love this kind of thing and this style of first-person shooter has been kind of pushed to the side in modern times. If you are someone who likes more strategy in your shooters or more story then you may tire of the non-stop action that is going down here.

The different weapons available do make things extra fun. Split Screen Modes — Play local offline split screen co-op and multiplayer versus modes with up to four players on one screen!
