The others had experimental sections , which had me almost yawning. However, it does nothing to create tension. Is Resident Evil 6 a good game? Yes, but with an asterisk.

There is something here worthwhile, but there is some muck you have to be willing to push through to enjoy it. Much of the criticism directed at RE6 is valid. It really is a bloated mess. It takes roughly 20 hours to beat the game proper, and the game sure overstays its welcome. The game goes for an action-blockbuster presentation —and while the sheer absurdity of the set-pieces can be entertaining—it can also get tiring, especially if you play these campaigns back to back.

Pacing is all over the place, with little to no downtime until the next over-the-top action scene starts. The core gameplay can be really fun when it has its time to breath though. As it is, these c ampaigns definitely needed to have the fat trimmed. I enjoyed them best in small doses. Mercenaries is what enjoyed the most out of this game. It is easily the best iteration to date. It is where the robustness of the combat mechanics become apparent. You have access to slides and rolls that reposition you in and out of enemy crowds.

There is an impressive plethora of options here. It certainly plays better than most third-person shooters. There are videos showcasing the depth this combat system has to offer:. There still are fumbles and oversights though. It is not an issue in Mercenaries—as each character has a fixed and smaller loadout —but it is an issue in the campaigns.

The gameplay is where Resident Evil 6 is either going to win you over or not. To be fair to this game I feel that some people hated this game and do hate it without even playing it.

Without a doubt, Resident Evil 6 is all about action. It plays just like a standard 3rd person shooter and to be fair, it does what it does quite well. Like Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6 also has co-op gameplay. You can play with a buddying sitting next to you or with someone online. What I really do like about Resident Evil 6 over 5 is that the AI of your companion is way better than it was in 5.

Capcom though does give you the option to play the game just on your own without a side character so they have covered all bases here. That is something they do not get enough credit for when it comes to Resident Evil 6. There are four campaigns that come together to make Resident Evil 6, but these do not just differ in the story. It makes each chapter feel different from the one before it. Do not get me wrong I can see why Resident Evil 6 and its heavy focus on action was not for everyone.

It is not a perfect game, but I do still feel that it is a very good one. If you loved Resident Evil 4 and were able to tolerate 5, Resident Evil 6 is an end to that story arc and it is well worth playing through.
